Breast Cancer Awareness Month

it's October!
and it is the Breast Cancer Awareness Month!

last year i participated the pink race, Walk for Pink Campaign hosted by Estee Lauder.
kenapakah tahun ini tiada eh? I wonder...Adakah kerana Annizam dan Dihar dah ke Jepun. Hehehe.

On the race day itself, we were mesmerized with pink all over the place. from the pink t-shirt to the face paint, paper bags, flower etc. And last year KL Tower served their Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) by lighting up the boring kelabu asap tower with pink lights and pink lasers all along in the month of October.
Pffftttt. i hate the fact that i lost all my picture during the race because of the hard disk problem. :(.

During the race, i met few breast cancer survivors. Sangat tabah. Ada yang dah tiada breast. Ada yang menyedari semasa cancer itu berada di tahap yang tidak bahaya dan macam2 lagi. Ada banyak aktiviti ok. Sadly they discontinue the event this year (agaknyelah. kalau sesapa tahu event ni ada tahun ni let me know k!).

this year on the 27th, maybe i'll be around at Mak Ngah's at Bukit Beruntung (for Zara Marissa's Aqiqah) and i will definitely force everyone (termasuklah Zara Marissa) to get into the darkness for an hour! :D it's for the earth man, so what??!!! hehehehe. if let say i'm going back to Putrajaya, definitely i switch off every light, every single electricity that i have in the house!

yang hari Sabtu adalah No Plastic Bag Day?

yesterday, pengantin sebulan, Zuraida keluar bersama saya. kami keluar untuk membeli bahan2 dan barang2 untuk sambutan baby shower Puan Ina pada 7 Feb nanti. sambil membeli2, kami terjumpa benda ni di sebuah hypermarket.

untuk makluman semua orang, saya tinggal di kawasan wilayah persekutuan. dan mungkin saya tak sempat baca surat khabar. (alasan kan!) huhu. zurai pun. dia yang tinggal di Selangor pun taktau perkara ini. ia bermula Januari 2010. langkah yang baik ini dilaksanakan oleh Kerajaan Negeri Selangor. sangat bagus! saya puji perkara ini. saya sangat gembira ada juga langkah2 sebegini ke arah kehidupan yang lebih hijau (green life). walaupun dapat dilihat lebih ramai yang rela membeli plastik dengan harga RM 0.20 tetapi ia adalah langkah awal membentuk dan mendidik orang ramai mengenai kepentingan memelihara alam sekitar. ianya diadakan pada setiap hari Sabtu yang mana terdapat lebih ramai pelanggan membeli belah pada hari tersebut. bukan sahaja dilaksanakan di hypermarket tetapi juga di seluruh kedai2 di Mines (yang besar2 la). mulai hari ini, saya nak keluar dan bawa my grocery bag. tak kesah la apa orang kata! :P

saya sokong usaha ini dan saya harap ianya dapat diperluaskan di seluruh negara. stop using plastic people. name it plastic bags, polystyrene dan lain2. bumi kita semakin tenat. Go Green!

Tanggal 9 September 2009 telah dipilih sebagai hari di mana rakyat Malaysia bersatu untuk mempromosikan keselamatan jalan (serius betul ke aku nyer translation ni???). dan inisiatif mewujudkan satu laman web di mana rakyat Malaysia boleh menghantar sokongan mereka dalam kempen keselamatan jalan raya dengan memberikan pledge masing-masing di laman web tersebut. dan as a Malaysian, i've done my part. i've sent my pledge earlier today and bukan setakat tinggalkan pledge sahaja tetapi menanamkan pledge itu dalam diri. Kempen ni turut dimeriahkan dengan sokongan artis Malaysia contohnya Dato' Siti Nurhaliza, Fazura dan ramai lagi. Cerita penuh mengenai promosi kempen sila klik sini.

Malaysians Unite for Road Safety Day 090909

Everyday we are bombarded with news of road accidents that often result in fatalities. The numbers are alarming as recent statistics from the Road Safety Department show that an average of 18 people are killed in road accidents everyday in Malaysia. The lives lost not only weigh heavily on the families that mourn them, but the country as well, for the passing of each of the thousands of lives lost on the road every year has an impact on the fabric of society and the economy.

But who is responsible for these very worrying numbers? We are quick to blame others and point out their weaknesses but unfortunately, we overlook the fact that we are often just as guilty of committing the same offenses and indulging in the same driving habits that lead to accidents. This vicious cycle has escalated to the point that many drivers no longer even think twice before doing something that they shouldn’t – it's as simple as "everyone else does it, why can't I?"

MUFORS is a community project that was set up not only to empower you, the Rakyat, to voice out your thoughts and concerns on road safety in the country but more importantly as a platform for all of us to take a minute to think about how we as road users can do our part to making our roads safer for all.

"Malaysians Unite for Road Safety" Day will fall on 9th September, 2009 (090909). In conjunction with MUFORS 090909, we are calling on all Malaysians to make a pledge on how to reduce accidents and save lives, and to honour these pledges on Wednesday, the 9th of September, 2009 between the hours of 9:00am-to-9:00pm. Our fervent hope is that these pledges honoured over a 12-hour period will transform into a lifetime of change.

Isn't it time we took matters into our own hands? Let's start taking responsibility for our own actions and pledge to save lives, our own and that of others, today. Let Malaysians Unite for Road Safety!
